The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye. It through this that light enters the eye. At this part of the eye is in direct contact with the external environment.
It is affected by various diseases like
- Corneal abrasions
- Corneal dystrophy
- Corneal ulcer
- Corneal neovascularization (excessive ingrowth of blood vessels) Keratitis (inflammation of the cornea)
- Keratoconus
Our centre have fully dedicated sub-speciality for dealing with corneal diseases. At KEC we provide the following surgical facilities
- Corneal cross linkage (C3R): for keratoconus, infective keratitis
- Surgery for corneal injury: elective as well as emergency basis
- Arrangement for corneal transplant surgeries: penetrating keratoplasty, lamellar keratoplasty, DASEK.
- Corneal tattooing / cosmetic contact lens: for corneal opacities
